Skylight, Velux and pitched-window blinds for lofts

Loft Blinds in Kent

Loft conversions create some of the most awkward windows in any home. Skylights set into the slope of the roof, dormer windows that project out, gable triangles, and pitched windows you can’t reach without a step ladder. Loft blinds are specified to handle each of these. We make and fit blinds for every kind of loft window across Kent, with motorised options where reach is a problem.

Skylight, dormer and pitched-window blinds

What are Loft Blinds?

Loft blinds is a category rather than a single product. The right blind for your loft depends on the windows. Velux skylights take dedicated Velux-aperture blinds that fit the inside of the frame. Standard skylights take pleated or roller blinds in slim tracks set parallel to the slope. Dormer windows are usually rectangular and take any standard blind. Gable triangles and trapezoids take custom-shaped pleated or roller blinds.

Reach matters in a loft. Manual cord operation is fine on dormer windows but awkward on slope-set skylights. We usually recommend motorised loft blinds for skylights, with a remote control or a wall switch within easy reach. For Velux skylights specifically, we are dealers for the Velux brand range, which fits the standard apertures perfectly.

Privacy and blackout are usually the two biggest priorities in a loft bedroom or office. Blackout fabrics with snug side channels handle both. Reflective fabrics on south-facing skylights also reduce heat gain in summer.

Which Blind Works in a Loft or Attic Space?

Velux skylights. Purpose-made Velux blinds are sized to fit the frame exactly, so there is no gap and no guess work. Choose manual or motorised operation, and blackout or light-filtering fabric depending on the room.

Other roof glazing. Pleated or roller blinds running on slim tracks that follow the roof pitch are the standard solution. Given how awkward most skylights are to reach, motorised operation with a remote is usually worth considering.

Dormer windows. These behave like any other vertical window, so rollers, romans and Venetians are all straightforward options. The same choices available in a bedroom or home office apply here.

Gable and triangular windows. A custom-shaped pleated blind is made to follow the angle of the frame rather than fight it. For fixed panes with no opening mechanism, a fixed blind fitted to the glass works just as well.

OUR PRODUCTS

Our Complete Made to Measure Blinds

Every blind we supply is made to measure in Kent, manufactured in British workshops, and installed by our own fitters rather than subcontractors. Our ranges are child safe as standard, available in hundreds of fabric and colour combinations, and can be motorised for skylights, loft rooms, or whole house smart home integration.

Reach matters more than usual

Loft Install Process

Our process is designed around genuine advice and careful craftsmanship, from the first call to the moment your blinds are fitted.

Survey

Loft surveys are typically scheduled for daylight hours so we can see the windows clearly. We measure each aperture, identify Velux codes where present, and discuss reach – whether you want manual or motorised operation.

Build

Velux brand blinds are typically 3-4 weeks. Custom skylight blinds (pleated, roller) take 4-5 weeks. Motorised versions add a week.

Install

Loft installs sometimes need a step ladder or scaffolding. We bring what we need. Each blind is fitted, tested for free operation, and any motor or remote is programmed before we leave.

Fabrics, finishes and child safety

Materials and finishes For Loft Blind

Our loft blind range covers Velux brand blinds, custom-shaped pleated blinds, motorised roller blinds, and reflective performance fabrics for south-facing skylights. Every blind is fitted by hand by a qualified carpenter, which matters in a loft where the surfaces are rarely square.

Every loft blind is child-safe as standard, with motorised options being inherently cord-free.
